The Barn
The Barn is the central hub of Nukara and its natural ambience sets the scene for many a function. It has been constructed essentially from recycled materials and has a very rustic and open feel. The Barn is our largest venue and includes a spacious undercover area, sprawling jarrah deck, bar and well equipped kitchen. It overlooks a large lawn area, shady River Red Gums, The Stage and meandering a creek which flows in the winter months. The Barn is suited to weddings, celebratory dinners, workshops, guest speakers, meetings, sundowners and the like. The birdlife around The Barn is abundant and in the evening you can be serenaded by the Froggy Opera and Brush Tailed Possums. Outside caterers are also able to utilise this area.
The Barn can cater for up to...for a dinner or...for a more relaxed event.
THE STAGE
Nestled amongst the River Red Gums, across the lawn from The Barn is the stage. With the beautiful bush scenery surrounding it, and plenty of room on the lawn for picnic rugs and camping chairs, The Stage comes alive each March for the annual Nukara Music Festival. The stage is available for hire and is very popular for private events when guests provide their own live music. Whether you are hosting an event, or a performer looking for a venue, Nukara welcomes your enquiry.
THE CHALET
Otherwise referred to as the ‘Honeymoon Suite’, Nukara’s Chalet is situated behind The Stage, and is often hired out by the Bride & Groom for their wedding night. Alternatively, The Chalet can be used in conjunction with The Stage and by enclosing the area with a roll down canvas it provides a 50m2 covered area for small workshops. The creek flows beneath The Chalet and it is surrounded by beautiful old River Red Gums.
BUSH TUB
The Bush Tub area is very popular for wedding ceremonies and for the amazing experience of a Hot Tub under the beautiful clear night skies. The 25 seater wood fired Hot Tub can only be used between April to October when there is no fire ban. We also have a massive wood fired pizza oven and a large under cover BBQ area.
FOX DAM
Fox Dam is great for smaller groups and is an area which brings us back to the simplicity of earlier years. Particularly popular with children, Fox Dam allows for the simple pleasures of swimming in a dam under the Gum trees and floating on a couple of tractor tubes. There is also a small Flying Fox for the children to use.
BUSH WALKS
Sometimes there is nothing more therapeutic than some time-out in the fresh air and open spaces to explore – even more so when it’s in the beautiful Chapman Valley. From August to November there is an abundance of wildflowers and the scenic valley is a blanket of green and gold as the various crops ripen. At sunrise and sunset kangaroos are a very common sight, along with the occasional echidna, reptiles and an abundance of bird life. Nature trails have been created around the Nukara Farm for you to enjoy, either on your own, or with us on a guided bushwalking tour identifying the local flora and fauna.
ABLUTION FACILITIES
Nukara’s ablution area is an eco-experience of its own. Beautifully kept and well maintained it has all the facilities you need, presented in an environmentally friendly manner. Cleanse yourself with the unique experience of a solar heated bucket shower. Full of fresh rain water caught from the available roof areas, this is a pleasurable experience that requires no electricity and conserves water. The bathrooms are serviced with solar hot water, 12 volt lighting and windmill pumped ground water once the rain tanks are empty. There are also disabled facilities and a baby change room.
CAMPING GROUNDS
The Nukara Camping Grounds are a huge grassed area capable of accommodating 500 people. Group bookings only. Camps, caravans and motorhomes are all welcome. There are no powered sites.
EDUCATIONAL CAMPOUTS
Give children a bush camping experience where they can enjoy sleeping under the stars, bush orienteering, night spotting the local wildlife, damper making, wood fired pizzas in our huge bush oven, star gazing under the clear night skies. We can share with them the beauty and fragility of our natural bush, river system and local wildlife. They can come along on educational bushwalks and help to identify flora and fauna.
BIRD HIDE TOURS
In the comfort of Fred’s Bird Hide be still and quiet as you view the birdlife on our unique natural wetlands area.
The number and type of birds vary throughout the year as flocks migrate through, some from the northern hemisphere. You can contribute to Birds Australia’s base line data by helping to identify and document the birds that visit.
